Bronze
sculptures marking Woves’ striker Steve Bull’s testimonial
year go on sale today.
The
limited edition bust of the soccer star has been produced by
Tony Stringfellow, of Tettenhall.
Tony
Aged 40, a prop and puppet maker for stage and television, said
‘This is a departure from my usual type of work but I
couldn’t let Bully’s benefit year go by without
doing something to mark the achievement of one of our greatest
players.
‘Reaction
to the sculpture is so good that I’m now preparing a series
of limited edition sculptures which I hope will become collectors
items.
‘I’ve made about 20 but the edition will run to
a 1,000. We could make those for Christmas if necessary.’
The
£59 sculptures are numbered and sold only at department
store Beatties with a certificate of authenticity signed by
Tony and Steve Bull.
Tony’s future plans include a series of Formula One racing
drivers and other sporting heroes.
Each
sculpture takes about four weeks to prepare and produce the
first cast.
Tony normally makes puppets, masks and replicas and has worked
for Ken Dodd, Rick Wakeman, Harry Hill and Chris Evans.
