A Wolverhampton author hopes to put T-Rex frontman Marc Bolan back at number one with a book featuring previously unseen poetry written by the star.

In the early seventies the glam rock guru was not only number one in the charts but also Britain’s best selling poet with his book ‘The Warlock of Love’.

And now writer Tony Stringfellow is hoping his book ‘From Beneath the Wizard’s Gown’ will appeal to Bolan fans everywhere.

Mr Stringfellow, aged 48, grew up in Wolverhampton and attended St Chad’s College in Old Fallings Lane and was a big T-Rex fan in their heyday.

The book goes into deep analysis of Bolan’s poetry, aiming to give credibility to the words of the glam rock king and also attempting to journey into the mind of the star, with some amazing revelations.

The poetry, written in Bolan’s own hand, has been reproduced from its original form and with an edited translation that gives an interpretation of what were perceived to be Bolan’s intended words.

There are also 40 previously unpublished photographs of Bolan, which Mr Stringfellow said depicted the “naturally ethereal aura he possessed”.

He is a very talented poet and had the best selling book before he was a pop rock star,” he said.

“I have analysed his poems and got inside the mind of Marc Bolan and given credibility to his lyrics.”
